Fantastic five and their secrets laden Goa trip

“Fantastic Five”

That’s how we were known in the entire Delhi campus. Like every group in the world, even we displayed certain definite and cliché group characteristics. Anne was the topper of our batch, the studious one like Hermione with a little addition of old-fashioned specs. The first comment that she would hear every another morning would obviously to replace those dilapidated glasses with the swanky lens. Blue one, I would say :P

Next comes our fashionista, Chaavi, just like her name. There are few people who are beautiful, then come those who are stunningly beautiful and then comes Chaavi. She carried such influential aura that even her fashion blunder was interpreted as a new trend throughout college. Haha…yeah, it’s true, I can bet that!

Third would off course be Anjali. Why third? Practically because she is such a diplomat! This girl has the talent to calm down the angry bird aka our Principal in just a few minutes. Damn impressive! Very cunningly, she approaches both the parties involved and patiently makes them settle out disagreeable things. Such skills!

One would not mess with Kanchan, at any cost. As a backbencher lifetime, she had honed her skills to be a go-getter. Lots of networks, abreast of minute information, country level quiz expert and a no-nonsense person to say the least. Every trip that we would plan would be only because of her.
And what should I say for myself? I am a writer, an introvert, shy and belong in the category to those who fear public speaking more than death.  But I can absolutely express myself in words. Being somewhat naïve in my approach, my best pal Kanchan would always come to my rescue. Gem of a person she is!

Summer vacations were fast approaching and this girl brushed her travel plans once again. Morn to dawn, she would do her research on places we could visit until the day she was victorious. She found a travel agency named “Women’s Special Tours” who organizes ladies special trips to Indian destinations. Booked tickets, scheduled our common dates, backpacked our stuff and off we went to Goaaaaa!!

GOA! The dream city of every youngster. A place to find solace with ones you resonate the most and on top of that- a perfectly organized trip. Whoa! We tried out every itinerary ranging from beautiful beaches to bike-rides, from waterfalls to sanctuaries, from pubs to cathedrals and many more within the city. I recount the awesome time that we spent together those days were hours when we talked along the seashores. It was so silent that all we could hear was the movement of receding water yet so noisy eternally within each of us. We shared our deepest secrets that day. I realized why Anne was labeled studious, what made Anjali a diplomat from her childhood life, what pushed Kanchan to pursue knowledge in spite of being a backbencher and how insecure Chaavi feels when she steps outside her home every day. On similar lines, they listened to my dark revelations with utmost empathy. Moments were such that we couldn’t stop ourselves from hugging each other with bouts of tears in our joyous eyes.  That day we came a bit closer, grew a bit stronger and cared a bit more than what we used to do earlier. It was as if we found ourselves in one another.

I could never forget my days in Goa. Places become worth to visit when you are surrounded by amazing folks.
